NEW Project - Fresh & Wholesome Market

Fresh & Wholesome Market Opens in Garden State
Aug 22, 2008
Fresh & Wholesome Market (formerly Fountain of Vitality), with a diversified repertoire encompassing everything from organic produce and supplements to freshly prepared meals, opened Wednesday at the corner of Springfield Avenue and Plainfield Avenue in Berkeley Heights. The largest independent market in the Garden State, Fresh & Wholesome is family-owned and operated by Joseph Eorio, his wife Linda, and sons Rob and Daniel, as well as Joseph's partner and longtime friend, John Giuliano.
The new market carries products to suit a wide range of dietary needs and customer tastes, with the underlying focus on high-quality, healthy ingredients. For instance, for those customers who have a gluten allergy, there is a section made up of strictly gluten-free foods to accommodate customers' dietary needs.
"Our mission is to contribute to the well-being of our customers," says Joseph
Eorio. "We want to help them by promoting a way of eating that is without artificial colors and preservatives, what we call a 'clean' way of eating. It's a lifestyle approach to food, not a diet."
One of Fresh & Wholesome's signature features is offering specialty products that may not be readily available in other natural markets, such as La Madia organic oils and pastas, imported from Italy, and soft-ripened Pierre Dorée cheese from France. Other authentic offerings include Nantucket Off-Shore Spice rubs and seafood boil seasonings, which are sugar- and salt-free; Tulsi Tea, a certified organic line of teas available in over 18 flavors; and Jeans Honey, produced locally in Flemington, N.J.
Healthy living is not just a concept Giuliano and the Eorios preach; it's something they practice, which cuts across all aspects of the Fresh & Wholesome Market. For example, all chickens are free-range, and are hormone- and nitrogen-free. Fresh & Wholesome also follows a policy of transparency, revealing as much as possible about the products it carries and providing the information to customers. Products that do not meet the company's rigorous quality and ingredient standards are excluded.
Both Eorio and Giuliano want their customers to consider Fresh & Wholesome as more than a place to shop, but also a gathering place for people to meet and share information and ideas. "We view ourselves as part of the community, not just a neighborhood market," says Giuliano. "Our business is not just about selling food, but really about serving the community we are part of."
As part of Fresh & Wholesome's commitment to providing hands-on customer service, the company's team includes: Chef Kevin, executive chef; Scott Young, produce manager; and Dr. Shavon Jackson, N.D., nutritionist and Wellness Center consultant. The three experts play an active role in both product selection and on-site guidance to customers about their areas of expertise.
Fresh & Wholesome is open Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
